"There are many members of our local community being directly impacted by this situation, as well as new members of our community. We are pleased to support the Canadian Red Cross in providing relief efforts where it is needed and the Parkland Ukrainian Family Fund to support newcomers where they need it most."

Lorne Eiffert, Dauphin Co-op General Manager, Midge Sametz, Mountain Road Gas Bar Manager, and Kelly Moroz, Main Street Gas Bar Manager present Jan Hale, Canadian Red Cross, with a cheque for Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Appeal.

One of  Red River Co-op's Team Members immigrated to Winnipeg in 2015 and shortly after, began volunteering with the Ukrainian Canadian Congress - Manitoba. Her dedication to family and friends in her home country motivated her to spearhead a donation drive from Winnipeg. The community in Winnipeg has come together to collect medical supplies, emergency blankets, diapers etc. that are scarce in Ukraine. Co-ops across Manitoba, including Dauphin Co-op, have answered the call with donations to cover the shipping costs.

Together, Co-ops across Western Canada are donating $100,000 to the Canadian Red Cross Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Appeal to aid relief efforts in Ukraine and impacted communities.

Co-ops have been a long-time partner of the Canadian Red Cross because of their commitment to support communities in times of crisis. Contributing to this Appeal is one way we can support our broader global community during this difficult time.

Our hearts and thoughts are with the the people of Ukraine right now as they endure the terrible crisis occurring in their homeland.

“Co-ops were built to serve and support our communities,” said Lorne Eiffert, General Manager at Dauphin Co-op. “There are many members of our local community that are being directly impacted by this situation. We are pleased to support the Canadian Red Cross in providing relief efforts where it is needed”
