Updated July 23, 2026.

We are excited to announce our commitment to supporting Canada’s National Ukrainian Festival (CNUF) with 100 gallons of premium paint worth $7,000. The donation will continue to support a vital restoration effort at the Selo Ukraina site.

CNUF has celebrated Ukrainian culture, heritage, and traditions for 60 years at Selo Ukraina, a historic cultural site located on the northern slopes of Riding Mountain National Park. As the festival's permanent home, Selo Ukraina plays a vital role in preserving Manitoba's Ukrainian heritage while welcoming visitors from across Canada and beyond.

“On behalf of Canada’s National Ukrainian Festival, we want to thank Dauphin Co-op for giving back $7,000 worth of paint to refresh our buildings here at the Selo site. We were fortunate to receive donations, both last year and this year. The paint will help us rejuvenate our existing buildings and ensure that they last long for many festivals to come. Thank you Dauphin Co-op for giving back to us and the community.” Said Marie Sorlie, Chief Administrative Officer, Canada’s National Ukrainian Festival Inc.

"We were pleased to make another donation of paint to complete this project, because like Co-op, the site builds community. It is a cycle of giving. We give back to revitalize Selo and Selo gives back to the community by hosting tours and wonderful festivals like CNUF and Dauphin's Countryfest. It is a cherished heritage site. A gathering place to make memories and share stories and experiences for generations. It is a great way to live our values." said Stephen, Dauphin Co-op building Division Manager.

Co-op’s Communities in Full Colour program (CIFC) provides paint for projects that improve the well-being of our communities. We are giving back by preserving, enhancing and beautifying our community. We are excited to announce our commitment to supporting Ukrainian Folk Arts Centre & Museum Inc. with 200 gallons of premium paint worth $12,500 to support a vital restoration effort to revitalize and restore the site’s historic buildings.

Selo Ukraina is the centre for the preservation of Ukrainian culture and heritage in Manitoba. The site of Canada’s National Ukrainian Festival, Dauphin’s Countryfest and other major events, is located on the northern slopes of Riding Mountain National Park.

The donation of 200 gallons to the Ukrainian Folk Arts Centre and Museum is a great financial boost to the organization to provide a needed facelift to the festival site at Selo Ukraina. The donation of paint, along with volunteers from Dauphin Co-op and Canada’s National Ukrainian Festival to do the painting, will not only brighten the appearance of the buildings on site, but will help to preserve them for future years and events.” said Jim Perchaluk, President, Ukrainian Folk Arts Centre & Museum Inc.

This contribution will help restore the beauty and integrity of the heritage structures, ensuring they remain a source of community pride and historical significance for future generations. Investing in preservation of cultural heritage and sustainability helps us live our vision to Enrich the Life of our Communities.

“We believe in the power of history to inspire and educate,” said Stephen Bunka, Dauphin Co-op Building Division Manager. “It is an honour to contribute to a project that safeguards our shared past while enhancing its beauty for the future. Building and enriching the life of our communities is what we do at Dauphin Co-op, this is just another example of our commitment to that.”

We were happy to gather with members of the Ukrainian Folk Arts Centre & Museum along with committee members of Canada's National Ukrainian Festival to help make progress on this massive restoration project. Here are a few before and after photos.
