Hey Clay Generosity Overflows
January 21, 2021

The Hey Clay promotion was very popular with schools as well as families last fall. We were invited recently to one of the schools that have made good use of the clay.

Cheyenne Stevensen, Grocery department (pictured below, second from left), was inspired when she saw some of the creations of the students at Whitmore School and rallied the cashiers to ask customers for extra clay and activity books collecting two shopping carts full for the school that her daughter attends.

It makes us so very proud of our Co-op Team to see the thoughtfulness and care taken to collect clay and activity books for a local school.

It makes us especially proud to hear of a Team Member who has so generously given from her own pocket to do even more. Cynthia  Prawdzik (pictured below, centre) purchased 50 Hey Clay Collector Boxes for the students at Whitmore School to use with the clay. That’s more than $250!  In honour of Cynthias' donation, Dauphin Co-op presented Whitmore School with a $100 Co-op gift card towards the school Breakfast Program.

Thanks to our generous members and shoppers, we collected two shopping carts full for the school.

We thank everyone that worked to collect these items and thank Cynthia for her generosity and kindness.

Whitmore School surprised us with a beautiful "Thank You" banner and cards made by the students. It was heartwarming to hear the ways the teachers have used the clay in class for everything from learning the alphabet to creating a sense of peacefulness while just working with the clay.
