Dauphin Co-op Makes a $25K Sponsorship and Issues Challenge
June 16, 2021

For the past several months, the local theatre in Dauphin has been closed for most of the time due to the pandemic. It has been tough times for Countryfest Community Theatre and we want to make sure this well-loved not-for-profit amenity keeps going.

"Co-op was one of the first to come on board as a founding partner with no hesitation when Countryfest Community Cinema asked for funding to build the theatre, ten years ago and had the same response when we made the call for funding this year." said Ron Hedley, Chairman of the Board, Countryfest Community Cinema.

Dauphin Co-op has been successful holding events at the theatre while it was open over the years and has been very grateful for the first-class service provided by Ron and his team. They have graciously accommodated our needs and have gone over-and-above everytime to make sure our guests were thrilled to be there. We can't thank them enough.

"We felt, as part of our vision, to enrich the life of our communities, and we really truly believe that and factor it in to all decisions that we make, that we would not hesitate to commit to supporting the Cinema. The benefits to the community members here and people in surrounding areas may not always be apparent. The theatre is an economic driver for our community bringing in people from outside of  Dauphin. People come out from Winnipeg and Saskatchewan to enjoy our first-rate theatre. While in town they shop and go to restaurants.

We want to support the theatre during these tough times and ensure that they are here for many more years to come. Our challenge goes out to all business and people in the community. Please sponsor, donate or purchase a membership. Please do what you can so they can be around for another 10 years and beyond." said Lorne Eiffert, Dauphin Co-op General Manager.

Ron Suchoplas, Countryfest Community Cinema General Manager added, " They didn't hesitate to support when we asked during this financial time. It means a lot. With us being closed, to have businesses still think of us when everyone is struggling means a lot. It's more than just the Theatre sponsorship cheque. When we were open, all the events that Co-op had hosted at the theatre is a great support."

Lorne added, "If we don't look after what we have in our communities, it will be gone. They can't just exist on their own. They need everyone's support."

Let's all do what we can to support Countryfest Community Cinema so we can all come together again for a great movie and  popcorn with family and friends.
