Dauphin Co-op Donates $30,000 for Outdoor Rink Improvements
Dauphin Co-op is pleased to announce $30,000 in funding, through our new Co-op Community Development Fund, to Dauphin Recreation Services (DRS) to support renovations and improvements to the outdoor rink including a warm-up shelter nearby at Maamawi Park.
The Dauphin Co-op Community Development Fund supports projects that create meaningful, lasting improvements within the communities that we serve. We are committed to investing in projects that address genuine needs, strengthen local connections, improve quality of life, and leave a lasting legacy for future generations. This funding has been made possible through a Funding Match Program with Federated Co-operatives Ltd.
“Dauphin Recreation Services would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Dauphin Co-op Community Development Fund for its generous $30,000 contribution toward upgrades to our Outdoor Rink. The Outdoor Rink is more than just a place to skate; it is a gathering space where generations come together to enjoy the Canadian winter. It is where families make memories, friends meet for a game of pickup shinny, and young children take their first steps on the ice as they learn to skate. It provides a welcoming space for people of all ages to stay active, connect with others, and enjoy the outdoors during our long winter months.” said Lindsey Kyle, Assistant General Manager, Dauphin Recreation Services.
What makes this project especially meaningful is that the warm-up shelter will be built by the DRCSS Carpentry students, giving them a valuable opportunity to develop hands-on skills, gain real-world construction experience, and make a lasting contribution to their community. Improvements will include updated lighting, a new zamboni door and skater entrance as well as the warm-up shelter.
“Our vision is to Enrich the Life of our Communities. By investing in these improvements, community members of Dauphin and surrounding areas will benefit from improved access to a safe and welcoming outdoor recreation facility. Updated lighting, accessibility, and the addition of a warm-up shelter for friends and families using the outdoor rink and the Toboggan Hill will support, affordable, safe and inclusive recreation opportunities for generations.” said Lorne Eiffert, Dauphin Co-op General Manager.
