Co-op Team Member Challenge is a Success!
ActionsUnder One Roof began as a pilot project in Dauphin by the Dauphin Crisis Task Force comprised of various programs, services and partners to discuss, identify and plan for some of the needs that were being seen in the community.
Now it is a one-stop-shop where less fortunate can receive a hot meal and have access to health care services, housing information, STI testing and harm-reduction supplies.
Dauphin Co-op was very pleased to sponsor the meals and snacks this week for Under One Roof. On top of the donation, the Team Members have been busy working behind the scenes to make a difference.
Under One Roof recently posted on Facebook that they were in need of new, unopened hygiene items so Co-op put out a call to the Co-op Team Members to see if they could help out in any way. Every tube of toothpaste and bottle of shampoo would make a difference.
Marie Armstrong, Cashier at the Food Store, went well above and beyond by purchasing $228.78 in items to donate and challenged the rest of the Team to pool their money together to meet or exceed her donation. This kick-started everyone to do what they could to support this worthy cause with a total of $791.50 in hygiene items and stuffed toys for the little ones!
Marie felt that she wanted to make a difference for this organization as she often sees them in the store purchasing each week and knows the commitment they have to helping others. She was very happy to give generously. "I don't like to lose, but I was very happy to lose this challenge!" said Marie.
Thanks, Marie, (pictured below)! Julie Kunicki and Ryse Lehky, Under One Roof were blown away by the generosity.
We are so proud of our Team Members and so very thankful for their generosity! It really does feed back into our vision to enrich the life of our communities. We are glad that we could help.
